Get Wired, You're Hired: The Canadian Guice to Job Hunting Online
This site is based on the book with the same title. The site contains several useful lists of links for job seekers. One list is aimed for recent graduates looking for their first jobs. A second list contains resources for people who are in search of a new job. There are also links for high school students seeking jobs. Topics at the site include self-exploration, job descriptions, identifying new opportunities, networking, and tapping into the hidden job market.

The site includes a notification service, which e-mails you when a new offer that matches your qualifications has been added to the site.

Globe Careers.Com
In October 1999, there were 7000 jobs listed on this Canadian site. A powerful search engine allows you to find the right job by choosing a category, an industry, and a region. Or, you can simply browse the jobs according to when they were posted. Like other sites, your can submit your e-resume for potential employers to view. This site also has a notification service.

Canada Jobs
This impressive directory collects all the Canadian job postings available on the internet. If it has an URL, is Canadian, and contains job offers, it's here: newsgroups, specialzed web sites, and corporate sites are just a few of the resources available. A few international jobs are also listed. Local job lists are available for specific cities including Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver, with more cities to be added in the future.

This site allows you to search want ads from a few select newspapers. You need to register and create an e-resume to use this site. The site also provides articles on the job market.

NewsDirectory.com: A Guide to English-language Media-Canada section

Public Service Commission (PSC) Job Site
This site lists all job openings in the Government of Canada. The Public Service Commission runs a recruiting campaign of new university graduates in the fall of every year. It also recruits students for summer jobs under the Federal Student Work Experience Program. Through the PSC over 5000 co-op students intern in various federal departments every year.

Charity Village
Charity Village Career Centre is a site for individuals seeking employment with a non-profit organization in Canada. It offers job postings, as well as news of the non-profit sector and links to non-profit organizations. Volunteer Canada
Volunteer Canada is the national centre for volunteerism. Business Development Bank of Canada
The BDC is Canada's small business bank. Calmeadow
Calmeadow is a Canadian, non-profit organization dedicated to helping self-employed access credit and financing. It also offers microfinancing. Small loans are offered to groups of people who are setting up their own micro-business. These peer groups provide support, collaboration, and shared accountability. This site explains in detail the procedures involved in setting up a peer group and lists a number of other micro-financing services across Canada.

Self Employment Development Initiatives (SEDI)
This web site will introduce you to the SEAP that enables unemployed people to start their own micro-business while receiving Employment Insurance benefits. Note that this is an HRDC program and is available elsewhere in Canada, even though this site offers information that is specific to Toronto.
