Canadian Government Online (CGOL)
In 1995, the governments of Canada, the Provinces and Territories, and representatives of local governments across Canada joined forces to initiate the Canadian Governments On-Line (CGOL) project. The CGOL initiative is a collaborative effort of government managers at all levels of government. Its activities aim at leveraging the expertise and technological solutions in each government to improve services to the public and avoid duplicate efforts.

SchoolNet
Established in 1993, Canada's SchoolNet is designed to promote the effective use of information technology amongst Canadians by helping Canadian schools and public libraries connect to the Internet. Through its partnerships with provincial and territorial ministries of education, library authorities, education and library associations and the private sector, Industry Canada's SchoolNet has successfully made Canada the first nation in the world to connect its schools and libraries to the Information Highway.

TransCanada Trail
The Trans Canada Trail will wind its way through every province and territory linking thousands of communities along its route. It will be the longest trail in the world - a shared-use trail accommodating five potential activities: walking, cycling, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling (where possible/desired). The web site contains information on the Trail and many aspects of it.

Council for Canadian Unity
This web site promotes Canadian unity. The Council for Canadian Unity was founded in 1964 with a mandate to "conduct research and studies for the purpose of educating and informing all persons generally in Canada in a better understanding of the legal and fiscal structures and the cultural and political nature of Canada, its provinces and its other civic and government bodies; and to promulgate the findings and results of such studies and research through public assemblies, literature and other means of communication throughout the whole of Canada."

UNICEF
Founded in 1946, UNICEF advocates and works for the protection of children's rights, to help the young meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential. The UNICEF Executive Board reaffirmed this mandate in January 1996, when it adopted a statement on the mission of UNICEF saying that UNICEF "is guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child and strives to establish children's rights as enduring ethical principles and international standards of behaviour towards children."
